Hosted by the Student Library Advisory Board, the annual spring BHS Reading Challenge invites students to dive into books for a chance to win exciting prizes.

The Brookline Cherry Blossom Festival is a celebration of spring and Japanese culture. It began in 2012 in collaboration with The Genki Spark, when BHS received two cherry blossom trees from the Consul of Japan to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of friendship between the U.S. and Japan. These trees are planted in the quad outside the MLK room windows and are cuttings of the original cherry blossom trees in Washington DC that were gifted to the US from Japan in 1912.  The festival includes taiko drumming, Japanese snacks, games, and activities seen at a typical spring festival in Japan. It helps promote the understanding of Japanese culture and develops a bond between students who are learning Japanese at BHS and those with Japanese heritage.
