BHS Leadership

Anthony Meyer

Anthony Meyer, Head of School

Welcome to Brookline High School. I came here in 2004 and quickly fell for the place and the people. Brookline High is rife with wonder, learning, and adolescent energy. A former headmaster of BHS referred to this quality as “yeasty.” I agree and appreciate daily our students’ intellectual, academic, and socio-emotional growth and learning.

During my time at BHS, I served as an English teacher, associate dean, and dean before becoming Head of School in 2016. In this role, I support and lead a superb faculty and staff of over three hundred who more directly impact our 2,100+ students and families. More specifically, I communicate regularly with students, staff, and families; advocate for and manage resources; collaborate with community partners; and manage, support, and serve on school and district leadership teams.

Brookline High School is a wonderful school: rich in learning and extracurricular opportunities and in fostering a sense of belonging among all members of our school community. BHS is also in need of scrutiny and improvement. I see this as the heart of my role: upholding what works well for students and determining what and how we can do and be better for the young people at our center.

Astrid Allen

Astrid Allen, Dean of Students (Grades 11 & 12)

¡Bienvenidos! As Dean of Students, I have the privilege of working with students and families while supporting educators across the Brookline High School community.

I began my work at BHS in 2007 as a Spanish teacher, which allowed me to connect my Colombian heritage with my teaching. Over the years, I have worked with a range of grade levels and courses both inside and outside the classroom.

In addition to my work as a dean, I help organize the school’s “Days Of” assembly programming, celebrating the identities of our students and educators while helping students find their voice to support their community, environment, and respect for all.

In my current role, I support students’ academic and social-emotional well-being, monitor attendance, support school traditions and events, and collaborate with Associate Deans and teams of administrators, educators, and staff.

My hope is for all of us to lead and work with kindness as we navigate the ups and downs of high school life together.

Brian Poon, Dean of Student Support and Grade 11

Hello! I have served in many roles at Brookline High School since first joining the community in 1997. My first position—and my deepest passion—was teaching social studies. Over the years, I have taught a range of courses, from 10th Grade World History to Asian American Studies.

During my time as an administrator, I have served as both an Associate Dean and the coordinator of an alternative program for students at risk of dropping out. In my current role, I support the academic and social-emotional well-being of all students.

My responsibilities include helping lead our Student Intervention and Early Warning Data Teams, as well as coordinating Title VI, Title IX, and bullying investigations. My goal is to help Brookline High School fulfill its mission of supporting the success of every student through both individual support and broader school leadership initiatives.
